Zandvoort Circuit•Aug 23, 2026

Lando Norris is the man to beat at the seaside. The McLaren driver converted pole position into a commanding victory at the 2026 Dutch GP, holding off a fast-finishing Mercedes duo to top the Dutch GP podium on 23 August 2026. If you were wondering who won the Dutch GP, it was Norris — leading home Kimi Antonelli and George Russell in a Mercedes double-podium day around the dunes of Zandvoort Circuit.

Dutch GP Result: Final Podium

Norris backed up his pole with a clean, controlled drive to claim 25 points and the top step. Antonelli split the Mercedes cars to take second, with Russell — who had earlier won the Saturday Sprint — completing the Dutch GP podium in third.

Here's the top ten from the 2026 Dutch GP results:

  • 1. Lando Norris — McLaren (25 pts)
  • 2. Kimi Antonelli — Mercedes (18 pts)
  • 3. George Russell — Mercedes (15 pts)
  • 4. Lewis Hamilton — Ferrari (12 pts)
  • 5. Charles Leclerc — Ferrari (10 pts)
  • 6. Oscar Piastri — McLaren (8 pts)
  • 7. Liam Lawson — Red Bull Racing (6 pts)
  • 8. Nico Hulkenberg — Audi (4 pts)
  • 9. Fernando Alonso — Aston Martin (2 pts)
  • 10. Pierre Gasly — Alpine (1 pt)

How the Race Unfolded

This Dutch GP race report is a story of front-running control. Starting from pole, Norris had track position on his side at a circuit where overtaking is notoriously tough, and he made it count from lights to flag. There was no safety car to bunch the field or hand out a lifeline to those behind, meaning the natural pace order held firm.

Behind Norris, Mercedes were the clear best of the rest. Antonelli and Russell locked out the remaining podium spots to give the Silver Arrows a strong haul, with Antonelli edging his teammate on Sunday after Russell had taken Sprint honours the day before.

Ferrari settled for a solid double-points finish, Hamilton leading Leclerc across the line in fourth and fifth. Oscar Piastri salvaged sixth for McLaren, keeping the team's constructors' tally ticking over alongside Norris's win. Further back, Liam Lawson led the midfield charge in seventh for Red Bull, with Nico Hulkenberg (Audi), Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) and Pierre Gasly (Alpine) completing the points.

Qualifying & Pole

Norris laid the foundations on Saturday, grabbing pole position for the GP. The qualifying top three read Norris, Russell and Antonelli — a front-running trio that closely mirrored the eventual podium, just with the Mercedes pair swapping around by race day. With clean air out front, converting that pole proved decisive at Zandvoort Circuit.

How GridPlay's AI Predictions Did

Time for the honest scorecard. Our AI leaned hard on recent momentum — and this one was a tough weekend for the model.

The pre-race prediction called Kimi Antonelli for the win, backed by his run of victories in Belgium, Monaco, Canada, Miami, Japan and China. Antonelli certainly delivered a podium, but he finished P2, not P1. So the headline call was a miss on the winner — credit to Norris, who broke the momentum narrative.

The rest of the podium picks didn't land either. The AI predicted Charles Leclerc in second and Max Verstappen in third; instead we got Russell in third and Leclerc down in fifth. Of the three predicted podium drivers, only one (Antonelli) actually made the rostrum.

On qualifying and pole, the model tipped Antonelli for top spot, but Norris took pole — another one to own. And the AI expected a safety car that never materialised; the race ran green throughout.

Scorecard summary: winner wrong, pole wrong, safety car wrong, P2 and P3 not exact, one podium driver correctly identified. A humbling weekend — the momentum model got outfoxed by Norris's raw pace.

The takeaway? Form guides are powerful, but Zandvoort rewarded track position and a driver on top of his game. When the winner isn't the in-form favourite, that's exactly the kind of upset that makes prediction games so much fun — and so unpredictable.
