What you predict each weekend
Each round asks for the race podium and the qualifying top three, plus a call on whether a full safety car appears in the main race. At sprint weekends you also pick the sprint winner. It takes a couple of minutes, which is deliberate — the game is meant to survive a busy season, not become a second job.
Qualifying picks lock an hour before first practice, so they are made on what you know going into the weekend rather than on Friday running. Race day picks then open once qualifying has run, which makes the podium call a read of race pace rather than a guess at the grid.
How scoring works
Predictions come in two parts. Up to an hour before first practice you call the qualifying top three and whether a full safety car appears in the main race. Once qualifying has run, race day picks open and you choose the race podium with the grid already known, plus the mystery position.
Get a position exactly right and you score full points; put the right driver on the podium in the wrong order and you still score partial credit, so a good read of the weekend is never wasted.
- Qualifying: 10 points for pole, 8 for P2, 8 for P3
- Safety car: 5 points for calling whether a full safety car appears in the main race - a virtual safety car does not count
- Sprint weekends: 10 points for calling the sprint winner
- Race: 10 points for the winner, 8 for P2, 8 for P3
- Mystery position: 15 points for naming the driver who finishes in a slot drawn between P4 and P10, exact or nothing
- Right driver, wrong position: 4 points
- Perfect prediction: a 25 point bonus on top
Play it solo or with friends
You can play GridPlay entirely on your own against the global leaderboard. Most people end up creating a private league instead — you get a join link, share it, and everyone in the group is scored on the same predictions with a standings table of their own.

When do predictions close?
There are two deadlines. Qualifying, safety car and sprint picks close an hour before first practice. Race day picks open once the qualifying results are in and close an hour before the race starts. A countdown on the homepage and on each race page shows whichever one is next.
What happens if I miss a round?
Nothing breaks — you simply score no points for that weekend and pick up again at the next round. There is no penalty and no requirement to play every race.
Is this gambling?
No. GridPlay is a free prediction game. There is no stake, no wager and no payout — you are playing for points, standings and bragging rights against friends and the wider leaderboard.
